There is one piece of the design process that cannot be overlooked, and that is the final styling. Once the furnishings are in place, it’s the “little things” like coffee table books, styling items, fresh and faux flowers, pillows and throws that make all the difference. A well styled space can go from beautiful to totally elevated in a snap!
It can be overwhelming to style something on your own. It’s hard to toe the line between adding “stuff,” and creating well designed, balanced focal points. We all know how great picture frames, books of varying heights and sizes, and pillow and throws are to styling, but what are the things that not everyone has in their home? Luckily, you have an interior designer here to help, and I’m sharing a few of my favorite styling items you may not see on every other link round up.
Beads
A string of oversized beads effortlessly draped across a coffee table book or a layered set of styling items on a bookshelf is one of my favorite styling go-tos. While I get a lot of my favorites from trade vendors, some great retail options are these wooden beads from West Elm, or this oversized string of glass beads from Pottery Barn. There’s even a great inexpensive set of oversized wooden beads from Amazon for under $25! There are so many different sizes, materials, and price points, you’re sure to find something that works for your space.

Fun Glasses
Design should be fun, especially if you really want to showcase your personality! I love to add this set of glasses – check out the picture below to see how CUTE they look on a small stack of books on an end table in my clients formal living room.

Unique Personality Pieces
Lean into your interests! Do you love family game nights? Try adding in some updated, stylish takes on classic games like tic tac toe, handcrafted dominos, or an oversized wooden die to give a subtle nod to your hobbies without breaking the bank. Are you modern art or dog lover? How cute is this piece?!

Happy styling!
