Why White Glove Service Is Actually Worth It

Behind the Scenes

There are some things to splurge on, and some things to save on. We’ve all opted for slower shipping speeds to get a $2 digital credit now and then, but let me get on my soap box for a minute – when it comes to furniture, white glove service is worth it.

When you hire me to design your home, we provide a white glove service that truly makes all the difference. You may be wondering – what’s the difference between that, and ordering something from a retail store that delivers, unboxes, and unpacks my furniture? Great question! Let me walk you through it.

When you order directly from major retailers, your items arrive as they are ready. Occasionally, stores will hold larger items like couches, sideboards, etc. until multiple pieces are in and deliver them all together – but of course, that’s only when they are all from the same store. You’re not just ordering a showroom from one retailer when designing your home, so what ultimately happens is this: you try to coordinate deliveries with multiple vendors and multiple shipping companies over the course of several days or weeks, taking off work to make sure someone can receive the items, waiting hours until they arrive. Sometimes they bring it to your room of choice and remove all packaging, sometimes they don’t. Sometimes it’s a flawless experience, and sometimes you’re left having to lug a headboard up two flights of stairs, or dispose of endless amounts of cardboard and packaging materials. Not to mention, the pieces can arrive damaged, and now you have to figure out how to return, repair, or exchange! This just isn’t a premium experience, and adds so much to your already full plate.

Now, let’s talk about what happens when you use a designer, like me!

We purchase all of your items, and keep a detailed inventory and status tracker. Everything is received by our amazing warehouse team, who inspect every item to make sure it is perfect and ready for your home. If it’s not, we work with the vendor to return, exchange, and replace, without you ever knowing there was an issue. We hold onto everything until all pieces are received – no piecemeal deliveries. Once everything is in, our furniture team delivers it all in one swoop. You don’t even need to be home! I supervise the team, and make sure everything is placed exactly where it needs to be, moving, or even taking away your old furniture if that’s what you need. We stuff pillows, arrange blankets, and add styling. Our team disposes of all cardboard and packaging material, making sure that all you need to do is walk in, sit down, and enjoy your new furnishings. The amount of cardboard and trash is unavoidable, and dealing with that on your own is a HUGE headache. We’re happy to take that off of your hands!

The difference is really night and day. White glove service makes all the difference! If you’re interested in working with me, head to the “contact” section of my website, and schedule a complimentary discovery call. I can’t wait to hear about your project!

with love,
