Here’s a quick guide of how to combine pillows for the best combinations. Think about the following:
ORGANIC + GEOMETRIC + SCALE + TEXTURE
Organic = nature inspired
Geometric = lines or repetitive geometric pattern
Scale = large or small scale pattern
Texture = velvet, fur, or embroidery
Do keep in mind that many of the sources listed below sell pillow COVERS … you need to buy the insert separately. I buy all of my pillow inserts (feather or synthetic) through Amazon. Make sure to purchase feather inserts one size larger than the pillow cover. Seems odd, but trust me on this one! If you buy a 22” x 22” pillow cover, purchase a 24” x 24” feather insert.
Layered from back to front, I like my pillows on a sectional/sofa to look like::::
Purchase pillow inserts 2” larger than the pillow cover.
Layer A: 26×26 inserts with 24×24 pillow covers.
Layer B: 24×24 inserts with 24×24 pillow covers.
Layer C: 14×20 insert with 14×20 pillow covers, or, 22×22 inserts with 20×20 cover.
Or:
Layer A: 24×24 inserts with 22×22 pillow covers.
Layer B: 22×22 inserts with 20×20 pillow covers.
Layer C: 14×20 insert with 14×20 pillow covers, or, 20×20 inserts with 18×18 cover.
